Five months ago to the day I got in my car at 3am and started a drive to a new place that I had never been to, didn’t know anyone at all, and honestly had no clue what things were going to be like. I mean seriously did North Dakota even know what baseball is?

The short answer is yes, they do and last Saturday I got to finally step foot back on a field and cover a game.

I made the hour and a half drive from Bismarck to Dickinson, ND to cover Dickinson State University as they hosted #11 Bellevue University. Honestly, I almost didn’t go to the game. It had been so long without attending a game that I was feeling kind of depressed related to baseball and the different sites that I run. I didn’t realize just how much I missed being at a game.

The second I walked into Dakota Community Bank and Trust Ballpark and saw Astoria Field the joy of being at a game hit me.

Before I go any further I need to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the Dickinson athletic department for welcoming me and letting me come to cover the game and to the Bellevue team for letting me set up in their dugout to photograph the game.

The game was a good game, nothing out of the ordinary really happened but it felt great. I know that I’m still going to have to do some adjusting, as baseball in the NW has been going strong for over a month, but regardless I am excited to be here and building the Great Plains Baseball Report.
