Who are some key returning position players and what do you hope to see from them this year?
Gregory Berroa, Isaac Richardson, Ian Velazquez. I believe all three of these guys should be all-conference guys at the end of the year. I look for these three to provide great leadership and to bleed our culture into the rest of our team.
Who are your key returning pitchers and why?
Luis Ortega, Ty Massey, Ethan Root. I expect all three to eat a lot of innings and be very successful. I hope these guys show great mental toughness and elite competitiveness on the mound.
Do you have an incoming impact freshman or transfers that will help the team in 2023?
Mac Melvin, Damian Rodriguez, Wesley Taveras
What was the focus and what things did you see from the team in the fall?
Our focus in the fall is learn to compete at a high level on and off the field and challenge each other to be better everyday. We saw some positive things from all faucets during the fall, as well as many things that we needed to do at a higher level, that hopefully we got addressed. We saw a team that is really together and has a great bond, and has higher standards for each other. This team has shown great self accountability thus far.
What are the expectations and goals for the team entering the season?
Our goals are to show great maturity and growth throughout the season. This team has the goal to bring the Conference Championship back to Dawson for the first time in a long time. Then play their best baseball in May in turn will lead to a deep postseason run.
