Who are some key returning position players and what do you hope to see from them this year?
Drew Nixon and Dustin Mertz. I expect them to be in the mix for all conference awards as they have been in the past.
Who are your key returning pitchers and why?
The pitching staff is inexperienced as we graduated the core of the staff from last year so there will be a lot of new faces on the mound this spring.
Do you have an incoming impact freshman or transfers that will help the team in 2023?
Shane Nixon (SS) and Tory Nelson (3B) are two transfers that will make an impact for us this spring.
What was the focus and what things did you see from the team in the fall?
Competing and getting to know our new players was one fall focus as we played seven varsity games. A big thing was getting mound exposure for our young staff and starting getting them developed so we can compete well this spring.
What are the expectations and goals for the team entering the season?
We have a lot of unknowns going into the year so our goal will be to consistently improve through the year and to be playing our best baseball in May.
