Who are some key returning position players and what do you hope to see from them this year?
Derek Shoen- 2x 1st team all-conference player. Impact bat in the middle of the order.
Calvin James- Has put together a really good career, we look for it to continue.
Michael Polson- Impact defender at SS, has a dynamic skillset offensively, should hit at the top of the order.
Kyle Jameson- Dynamic offensive player, rounds out our team offense.
Krece Papierski- Good freshman year offensively, only getting better.
Who are your key returning pitchers and why?
Austin Wagner- Has proven he can anchor a rotation in our conference.
Jonathan Draheim- Has a track record of consistent success, we look for it to continue.
Mark Schommer- Break out year last year. Has made some big jumps in terms of stuff.
Paxton Miller- Looking for a bounce back year, has the stuff to be impactful in the conference.
Joseph SInclair- Big time stuff, has a chance to be special if he can put it together.
Do you have an incoming impact freshman or transfers that will help the team in 2023?
Daniel Martin- Transfer outfielder, we think will be a impactful piece offensively and defensively.
Josh Walker- Transfer outfielder, exciting skillset should be fun to watch him continue to develop.
Logan Moser- Redshirt freshman pitcher, has been good all fall and spring build up. We look for him to be a rotation piece.
Jared Arnold- Transfer pitcher, we look to Jared to provide impactful innings in the back end of the bullpen.
What was the focus and what things did you see from the team in the fall?
Pleased with the way our guys competed this fall. Focus was on competing and being comfortable in adverse situations. A big emphasis on the mental components of our game. Our student athletes responded really well and have met every challenge head on. We look for this to continue into spring!
What are the expectations and goals for the team entering the season?
To represent and defend our standards and to compete as hard as possible every day.
