Who are some key returning position players and what do you hope to see from them this year?
Tyler Steimer (C/OF) returns from his All Region season. Tyler hit .402 and will be a mainstay in the heart of our order. Elijah Stifter is back as the only player to play in every game last year for the Blue Knights. Stifter hit .301 and will supply a ton of versatility in the field.
Who are your key returning pitchers and why?
Blue Knights return over 60% of innings from last year, we look to make a jump in production this season. Cole Mahlum will be a name to watch.
Do you have an incoming impact freshman or transfers that will help the team in 2023?
We are really excited about the transfer and freshman classes on campus. A few transfers to keep an eye on are Nick Friedges (C/INF), Tyler Wombacher (1B), and Ethan Hansen (3B/RHP). Along with being really good players they great people who have fit in great. Some freshman to keep an eye on Justin Johnson (C/OF), Colin Gibson (INF), Daniel Zang (RHP/INF), Zach Gwost (RHP), Lance Behrens (RHP) and Justin Roitman (INF/RHP).
What was the focus and what things did you see from the team in the fall?
The focus this fall was to integrate 23 new players into our program and play a challenging schedule. We believe we accomplished both of those things and hope to build off our off season training.
What are the expectations and goals for the team entering the season?
Expectations for this team are to get better everyday. We have put a tough schedule together to prepare us to play our best baseball in May.
Goals are to compete for a Region Championship.
