What things did you see from the team in the fall?
Overall, we have seen a lot of growth and maturity from our guys. Going into last year we had to rebuild the program, starting completely over with the majority of the team as freshmen / underclassmen. The experience those players gained from last season is huge, and I believe we have seen some of those gains already this fall. We were able to compete in 10 fall baseball games, and that gave us an opportunity to see what our returners and new incoming players could do in a real competitive environment.
What was the focus during the fall for the team?
Our focus was to get everyone ready to play and compete. Our fall schedule was no joke, we played games against really good programs. Each individual came back at a different level, some played all summer and needed fine tuning with some rest, and some didn’t play at all, needing more attention and repetitions. Our fall also consists of our weight room and treadmill training workouts, increasing our strength and speed / agility.
What are the expectations and goals for the team entering the season?
Last season as a 1st year rebuild program, we finished overall 5th in the conference standings, which also qualified us for our conference postseason tournament, where we finished 3rd. Our expectations are to take another step forward as a program this season and continue to grow the foundation we have set, we want to finish the regular season in the top half of our conference, and be one of the last three teams playing in the conference tournament.
