Who are some key returning position players and what do you hope to see from them this year?
Matthew Womack – Had a great year offensively last year. Will be used in new roles defensively this year. Mathias Gonzalez – Big arm talent in CF. Offensively has a ton a of power potential. Looking for him to impact the lineup this year.
Ethan Leech – Power potential on the bay and a very smart ball player. Looking for him to be our spark offensively.
Who are your key returning pitchers and why?
Tyler Clapp- proven ability to keep us within reach Peyton Rees- good arm talent. Will be a huge factor in our success this year.
Michael Wishowski – A lefty, with a good arm, great feel for the game.
Blake Smith – Another good arm, who is a mature guy, ready to compete and lead every day.
Do you have an incoming impact freshman or transfers that will help the team in 2023?
Alex Tallman – reliever, bulldog. Should see some success as a transfer.
Kolby Wagatsuma – FR – Switch hitting catcher with pop from both sides.
Steven Fortune – FR – Switch hitting utility player. Showed this fall he can hit.
Trent White – FR- Second baseman with a good arm and smooth defense.
Blake Portalski – Transfer C/UTL will be our guy to multiple things during a weekend. High IQ player.
What was the focus and what things did you see from the team in the fall?
Having an offensive approach and understanding what team defensive baseball can do. I saw a lot of growth offensively from this group. Defensively they made a lot of strides to improve their overall performance.
What are the expectations and goals for the team entering the season?
Be better than we were last year.
